Triangular facet

Complete fault scarp is cut into many triangular fault scarps, which is called triangular facet.

The typical triangular facet in the geopark includes: walls of tiankengs, and the bared cliffs at both banks of Qijiehe River and Liuchonghe River.

Evolution of fault scarp (according to Davis)

1. At the same time of the fault being occurred, huge fault scarp is formed; 2. Fault block mountainous is lowered due to denudation and the fault scarp is corroded to triangular facet; 3. Triangular facet lowers and goes backwards further to form round spur, but the spur is away from the fault for certain distance; 4. The fault block mountainous is razed and the triangular facet is disappeared.
